Blame Sally totally blowing up: San Francisco band getting well-deserved national attention from Billboard, NPR

Would you like some power-pop with your latte? May I recommend Blame Sally. (via blamesally.com)

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I shared some of my favorite Bay Area musical discoveries? Among them was local band Blame Sally, whose song “Living Without You” is an infectiously sweet-and-sour, four-on-the-floor, power-pop confection.

Well, I’m not the only one taking notice. “Speeding Ticket and a Valentine” appeared last week at No. 38 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart (which tracks the top-selling albums by artists who have never cracked the Top 100 on the main Billboard 200 album chart). That was apparently enough to get the attention of the music bloggers at NPR, who are featuring “Living Without You” as today’s Song of the Day.

So that’s cool, huh?

I really like this song. It’s super easy on the ears, and I can see how its adult-rock sound (I don’t mean that as a backhanded descriptor … we adults need good rock ‘n’ roll, too, you know) would fit right into Starbucks’ in-store music stream, which is yet another outlet giving the band some due recognition. Keep up the good work, ladies.
