Oh, your mom is going to looooove this edition of Going On Sale<\/a> (the bestest, most comprehensivest, easiestest-to-use listing of recently announced Bay Area concerts). How will she ever choose between seeing Josh Groban<\/a> or Rod Stewart<\/a> croon his way through what I assume will be the exact same setlist of dusty chestnuts and standards? Maybe the fact that Stevie Nicks<\/a> will be joining Stewart at Oracle Arena will tip it in that show’s favor. Or maybe she’s the type of mom who forces you to listen to country radio in the car, and she would rather drool over Kenny Chesney<\/a> and his eternally behatted head at the Shoreline Amphitheatre.<\/p>\n

Whatever. Mom can have her hunky Michael Crawford and Jimmy Buffett surrogates. You’ll be too busy rocking out to SYSTEM OF A DOWN<\/a>! Woooo! Hiatus over<\/a>, bro! The silver lining to the petulant, moronic dark cloud that was n\u00fc-metal, SOAD has been thoughtful enough to included a concert at the Mountain View amphitheater on its reunion tour. B.Y.O.B.<\/a><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the other indie nerds and I will be over here, wringing out hands in anticipation for Okkervil River<\/a>, Man Man<\/a> and Iron & Wine<\/a>. But I think the show that I personally am most excited about is Hayes Carll<\/a> at Slim’s. The singer-songwriter put out a fantastic album of smart, political roots rock and alt-country a few weeks ago, making him the best candidate for Steve Earle’s heir apparent to come along since, well … Earle’s own son.<\/p>\n
