Hey, did you know Ricky Martin<\/a> still makes music? It’s true. This week Martin released his first album in more than five years and embarked on his first national tour in three years, including a stop at the HP Pavilion at San Jose. This marks the first time his fan base can enjoy a show without any mystery surrounding Martin’s sexual orientation, so that will be something different, I suppose.<\/p>\n

That’s about it as far as big ol’ arena shows, but there are lots of club-sized goodies for indie fans this week, including Fleet Foxes<\/a>, Yeasayer<\/a>, Peter Bjorn and John<\/a>, The New Pornographers<\/a> and Broken Social Scene<\/a>. You heard me right: both<\/em> of Canada’s supergroups, if we define “supergroup” as including bands made up of people who also play in other bands you hadn’t heard of prior to the supergroup.<\/p>\n

Also, there are hometown shows from such local favorites as Zion I<\/a>, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum<\/a>, Y&T<\/a>, Poor Man’s Whiskey<\/a>, MiMoSA<\/a> and tUnE-yArDs<\/a> (what’s with the goofy capitalization, Bay Area musicians?).<\/p>\n
