I was attending college in the midst of the ’90s swing revival<\/a>, when Swingers<\/em><\/a> and Brian Setzer suddenly and inexplicably made trombones, porkpie hats and side flips insanely popular. In fact I met my wife at a dance lesson, and our first date was a swing party. So I have a soft spot for the style, and it makes me happy that there are still bands out there like Lost Dog Found,<\/strong> which is swinging on into Vitus in Oakland on Friday.<\/p>\n

Yes, if the East Bay’s music scene is good for anything, it’s giving niche genres a place to shine. Exhibit B is the Croatian folk music at Ashkenaz on Saturday for the San Francisco Tamburitza Fest “Welcome Dance.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Personally, I think I’m going to be checking out the psych-rock showcase at The Stork Club on Friday, featuring The Lotus Moons, Plant Tribe<\/strong> and a whole bunch more.<\/p>\n

By the way, I got a job. A real job with a paycheck and everything. That makes it hard to find the time to do these (or any blog post, for that matter), but I’m going to do my best to get back on track with doing Who’s Where? on a weekly basis. Because I find it interesting, and I like staying on top of the live music scene. How else am I going to know how to unwind on the weekends?<\/p>\n
